Synopsis: At the end of World War I, a division of the French Foreign Legion led by Major Foster (Gene Hackman) has been ordered to protect an archaeological expedition led by Marneau (Max von Sydow). The last expedition was destroyed along with its Legionnaire guards but Foster must follow orders... Meanwhile, Marco Segrain (Terence Hill), a part gypsy cat burglar who is on the run from the police, joins the Legion to escape arrest. He finds himself under the command of Foster, for whom he gradually acquires a grudging admiration.

Une série B qui lorgne donc du côté de
Beau Geste. Avec un hallucinant casting, un très belle photographie, mais un manque de souffle dans le scénar et la réalisation. Peut-être que le format étriqué de l'édition dvd(pan and scan) n'arrange pas grand chose à ce fait!
J'ai pensé plusieurs fois à Steve McQueen, en voyant Terence Hill en forte tête, qui séduit la femme(Catherine Deneuve) du Commandant du fort(Gene Hackman).
Sinon je suis aux anges, nous avons le droit à notre Marseillaise, et à l'hymne des Légionnaires le fameux
Tiens voilà du boudin....
Une scéne à pu peut-être inspiré Spielberg pour Les Aventuriers, celle où ils sont enfermés dans la tombe!?
Quand au final de ce film, un beau morceau de bravoure,
Le Légionnaire de Van Damme en est un hommage/calque très visible.
J'attends donc une belle édition dvd pour ce film avec impatience!
