Released to buy on 28th November 2005, both versions of the DVD contain karaoke-style sing-along subtitles, and the two-disc version is also packed with brand-new special features created to celebrate 40 years of the most popular family film of all time!

The Sound Of Music Sing-Along Edition DVD (one-disc) offers the fully restored original theatrical feature with a brand new interactive ‘sing-along’ function allowing families to watch, listen and sing-along to some of the world’s best-loved songs, including ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Edelweiss’ and ‘Do-Re-Mi’, all with glowing subtitles and a specially created lyric booklet!

The Sound Of Music 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition DVD (two-disc) sees Julie Andrews host a look back at the phenomenon of the musical including hours of brand new documentary material especially created for this milestone year. Commentary by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer - Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer came together to record this all-new commentary for The Sound of Music.

Sing-Along - here you can watch, listen and sing-along to your favourite songs from the film. With this all-new optional function added for the 40th Anniversary, the beloved songs appear on the disc with glowing subtitles allowing you to easily sing along either within the context of the film or separately.

Introduction by Julie Andrews - your host for this DVD, Julie Andrews introduces you to the special materials found on Disc 2.

‘My Favourite Things’ Retrospective Documentary. A look at the history of the making of The Sound of Music from Julie Andrews. (65 mins).

Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer: A Reminiscence. They fell in love on screen on screen 40 years ago, and have been dear friends ever since. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer sit down for an intimate fireside chat.

On Location With The Sound of Music Featurette. Salzburg in Austria is one of the stars of the film and in this travelogue, Charmian Carr (Liesl)takes us back to the magical city to revisit many of the sights made famous in the film.

From Liesl to Gretl: A 40th Anniversary Reunion. Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, and the movie’s seven “von Trapp children” joined together to reminisce about The Sound of Music for this exciting new reunion piece created specifically for the DVD. (30 mins)

‘When You Know The Notes To Sing: A Sing-Along Phenomenon’. A profile of the Sing-A-Long Sound of Music worldwide phenomenon, with highlights from the Hollywood Bowl and an 18,000 strong crowd participating in the fun.

The Von Trapp Family: Harmony and Discord. This 1998 documentary tells the true story of the von Trapp family, immortalized in The Sound of Music. (50 mins)
